Editor: So, this intriguing work is by Esq Tom Phillips, simply titled "[no title: p. 324]". I find the collage of colors and fragmented text strangely captivating. What do you see in this piece? Curator: The arrangement of textual elements within geometric fields is certainly compelling. Notice the interplay between the positive space occupied by text and the negative space created by the colored blocks. It appears Phillips is deconstructing language itself. Editor: Deconstructing, how so? Curator: Consider the fragmented phrases, seemingly lifted from another source. Their arrangement disrupts conventional narrative, inviting the viewer to construct new meanings based purely on the visual relationship between word and form. The material quality, the flatness of the colors against the cut-out text, further emphasizes this separation. What new meanings emerge for you? Editor: That makes sense; I see it now. The visual structure is the message. Thanks!
