Picasso made this watercolour, The Family of Blind Man, with ink on paper, and it just sings with a blue, blue mood. It's all about layers, how one thing seeps into another, creating a space that feels both washed out and intensely felt. The way he lets the blue pool and bleed is so telling. Look at how the washes define the figures, almost like they're emerging from a dream. It's thin, like he was barely touching the paper, but the effect is powerful. There’s a real sense of touch here, of feeling for form rather than just seeing it. I’m reminded of how artists like Paula Modersohn-Becker used simplified forms to convey deep emotion. There's a similar sense of vulnerability and raw feeling here, a kind of looking inward that makes you want to reach out. It’s not a clear picture, but that’s the point, isn’t it?
