Jo Bezaan made this print, "Weg langs bosrand," using etching. It looks like she was really wrestling with the light and shadow, making you feel the weight of the trees leaning over the road. The texture in this print is so important; it’s not just about what you see, but how you feel the density of the woods. Look closely at how she's built up the darks and lights in the trees on the left. Notice the contrast with the open, airy feel of the road. That light creates a feeling of movement. It’s like she's inviting you to take a walk into the unknown. This reminds me a little of some of the early modern printmakers like Félix Vallotton. Ultimately, this piece embodies a dialogue that all artists engage in, echoing and responding to each other across time.
