Roy Lichtenstein made this print, Knight with Lady, in 1979, and you can see it’s all about the process. It's not trying to hide anything! The colours are basic – a punchy red, black, and a textured grey. Looking at it, you can almost feel Lichtenstein carving into the block. It's rugged, immediate. Notice the red area, how it almost bleeds into the paper? That’s what I love about prints; they show their working. It's like you’re seeing not just the image, but the action of making it. Lichtenstein's known for his Pop Art, those big, comic-strip paintings. But here, he’s playing with something more raw, more primitive. It reminds me a bit of Picasso's earlier prints, where he's also stripping things down to their essence. Art's just one big conversation, right? We are always borrowing and building off each other, trying new things, but also looking back. And that’s what keeps it interesting.
