Sam Francis made this "Sulfur Water" by dripping and splashing paint, creating a super energetic field of color. It's all about the process, about letting the paint do its thing. The colors are so alive, right? Bright reds, blues, yellows, all dancing together. The surface is really interesting. You can almost feel the way the paint landed on the canvas, some areas thick, some thin, some just tiny little splatters. Look at that cluster of red circles near the middle. They’re almost like little cells, vibrating with energy. They pull you in, but then your eye is drawn out again by the surrounding splatters and drips. Francis reminds me a bit of Joan Mitchell, in the way he uses color to create a sense of space and movement. Ultimately, this piece is about embracing the unexpected, about letting go and seeing what happens when you trust the process. It’s a reminder that art doesn’t always have to be about control; sometimes, it’s about letting things flow.
