This photograph captures students from Schule Schloss Salem performing a play, sometime in the early 20th century. It's anonymous, but the image speaks volumes, doesn’t it? I imagine someone lining up their subjects like a painter arranging figures in a composition. The tonal range, the staging, the drama—it's all there. What story were they trying to tell? What roles were they playing? I’m sure the photographer didn’t know either, but I can imagine them thinking about light and shadow, the placement of each figure, coaxing emotion and presence out of their subjects. It's like a dance between intention and accident. It’s almost like the photographs I take - a mix of careful planning and letting the world surprise you. There’s a conversation happening across time, you know? This image inspires my creativity, and hopefully, it inspires yours too.
