Curator: Oh, this piece has such a quiet strength. It's William Turnbull's "Head," residing here at the Tate. Editor: It reminds me of a totem, all these stacked, simple forms. Raw, yet deliberately constructed. Curator: Turnbull often explored primal forms. Look at the textures, the way he plays with the roughness of the materials. The wood grain, the pitted surface... Editor: Right, it's about the process, isn't it? He's making the hand of the artist visible, reminding us that this "head" is born from physical labor. Curator: Exactly. And there's a timeless quality. It feels ancient, yet modern all at once. The proportions, the balance... it speaks to something deep within us. A shared history. Editor: I agree. And there's a simplicity of form that seems to belie the complexity of its construction. I think that’s what really makes it sing. Curator: A very good point. It’s thought-provoking, isn’t it?
