This lily pond near Schule Schloss Salem, made by an unknown artist, invites you to fall into its still surface. I like to imagine it as a painting: a site of inquiry, layers of meaning shifting and emerging through intuition. It makes me think about Monet, but with something more brooding, more hidden. Maybe the artist was like some kind of proto-surrealist, looking to tap into something unconscious. The lilies themselves, how they pop against the murk of the water - it’s like they are little gestures of hope, or light. It's as if the painter is in a quiet conversation with the world, with other painters across time, and with the very act of seeing. What do you think?
