Robert Frank made this, Die Landschaft 37-48, and I love seeing it. It’s like a contact sheet, a collection of moments from here and there – fountains, lakes, mountains capped with snow, people in repose, or skiing—all arranged on a single sheet. I can imagine Frank wandering around Switzerland, snapping shots, and then laying them out like this, to see what he had. There’s a casualness, a spontaneity to it. It makes me think about all the possible ways of seeing a place, and the choices that artists make in how they frame the world. You get a sense of him searching, trying to capture something elusive. What did the artist leave in? What did he leave out? Each image is like a little world, but together, they form a larger story, an invitation. It's about process, about looking, and thinking, and feeling through the act of making. Frank’s images remind us that art is not just about the finished product, but about the journey, and the questions we ask along the way.
