This is Carolina Onnen’s photo album page, "Loentje en Frank Furnée met vrienden in de Rivièra," and it’s a total mood. The whole thing is a study in how we frame our memories, right? These aren't snapshots, they're little windows into another world. Look at the top left image, you can see a group of friends hanging out in front of a building. The textures captured here are incredible! The sharp detail of the building against the softness of the shaded foreground gives it a tangible quality. The marks and gestures in the album are subtle but speak volumes about how she viewed these moments. The way she frames these photos, like the lone figure under a tree by the water, it's all about capturing a feeling. Onnen's work reminds me a bit of Agnes Martin, in the way that both artists take something seemingly simple and imbue it with so much depth and emotion. It’s like a conversation across time, with Onnen's photos responding to Martin's minimalist paintings, each adding their own voice to the dialogue.
