It is divided into four panels, each depicting a scene of monkey behavior. The satirical nature of the print is evident in the title, which translates to "Learn this, young youth, but don't be amazed, for all that is spread on the world's stage, is the true play of the apes." The print is a reminder to the viewer of the folly of human nature, especially in the context of public displays of vanity. It is currently held in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
