This small, octagonal bronze medal, or rekenpenning, was struck in 1661 by an anonymous artist in honor of Mr. E. Meyster. The front of the medal depicts three flaming torches, a symbolic representation of the discovery of a large boulder on the Pisberg near Amersfoort, Netherlands. The other side of the medal displays the coat of arms of the city of Amersfoort. This small commemorative medal is a fascinating artifact that illuminates the history of the city and the importance of this discovery.
