Daniel Marshack made this "Card Case", and it looks like he made it with a lot of care, doesn't it? The colors are so gentle; it's like he's whispering about the object. It looks like a watercolor, and I love how the whole thing feels so present, like a memory. There's this unassuming little knob on top, off-center, that feels like the keystone of the whole piece. It’s this soft, pale shape, and it's incredible. You can see the artist’s hand in it, how the paint subtly defines the contours, the way it sits on the surface, almost glowing against the matte of the paper. It's such a modest thing, a simple card case, yet there's something quietly profound about it. It reminds me a bit of Giorgio Morandi, how he could turn everyday objects into these meditative, soulful experiences. Marshack does something similar here, elevating the mundane to something worthy of contemplation. Art is just looking at the world, really.
