Martiros Sarian painted "Spring in my Garden" with what looks like oil on canvas, and straight away I'm struck by how the colours are almost muted, like a memory fading at the edges. There’s a real material presence to the paint here, it's like Sarian has applied each brushstroke with intention, creating a surface that feels both delicate and robust. Look at the way the white blossoms are built up, stroke upon stroke, creating a sort of shimmering veil. And then there are the darker, almost melancholic branches underneath. It is like they're holding the light but also aware of the shadows. I'm reminded of Van Gogh, especially the way he captures the energy of nature with his dynamic brushwork. Ultimately, Sarian's painting reminds us that art is not about perfect representation, but about capturing a feeling.
