This is a black and white etching titled *Anjou legt de eed af aan de stad Antwerpen, 1582*, created by Frans Hogenberg around 1582–1585. It depicts a scene from the Eighty Years' War in which the Duke of Anjou, the brother of King Henry III of France, swears an oath to the city of Antwerp. The artwork is part of a larger series of etchings documenting the siege of Antwerp and its subsequent capture by the Spanish. The image's detailed composition and its focus on the historical event make it a prime example of sixteenth-century etching.
