Sylvia Wald made this artwork, Spirit's Constellation, with, it looks like, a combination of printmaking and painting – maybe even some collage? I can just imagine her in the studio, layering these shapes and textures, letting things emerge through the process. It’s as if she's conjuring a world, one where forms shift and coalesce like dreams. There's this bright orange form, kind of kidney-shaped, bumping up against a darker, mossy green circle – they seem to be in conversation, maybe even a little confrontation. It's intriguing. The background feels like a landscape, or maybe a skyscape? With these wispy, almost ghostly marks suggesting movement or energy. I wonder if she was thinking about those early abstract expressionists like Dove and Hartley, who were also interested in connecting the inner world to the cosmos. Artists are constantly in dialogue, aren't they? Passing ideas back and forth, responding to each other across time. Painting is about embracing uncertainty. There's no right or wrong answer, just a constant exploration of what it means to be human, and to make marks that reflect that.
