Anthonie van Borssom’s “Landscape with Bridge” (1624 - 1677) is a small-scale drawing of a bridge crossing a waterway, created using pen and brown ink and brown wash on laid paper. The drawing is a study of a bridge structure, with a small village visible in the distance. The bridge is depicted in detail, with the wooden beams, stone piers, and surrounding landscape clearly visible. Van Borssom, a Dutch painter and draughtsman, was known for his landscapes, particularly his depictions of bridges and other architectural structures. This drawing is a fine example of his detailed and precise style. It’s currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
