"April" is an engraving from a series of twelve prints that depicts the months of the year as allegorical figures, made by an unknown artist in the Netherlands around 1652-1711. In this print, April is represented as a woman in an elaborate dress sitting on a stone pedestal in a garden. She holds a spear and a hunting dog sits at her feet. The scene alludes to the return of spring, as well as the traditional practice of hunting at this time of year. This print is currently part of the Rijksmuseum collection.
