Giacomo Brogi made this photograph, *Interieur van de kathedraal van Milaan,* sometime in the 19th century. It is all about light and shadow, an early form of grayscale. You know, it kind of reminds me of Diebenkorn's Ocean Park series in that way. I love how Brogi captured the cathedral's interior. The texture is so rich, you can almost feel the cool stone beneath your fingertips. See how the light streams in through those high windows? It's as if the cathedral itself is breathing, alive with history and devotion. The sepia tone adds a layer of nostalgia, of a world seen through memory. Think about the basilica as a whole, that kind of architectural drawing is almost like an Agnes Martin grid painting. Art is a never-ending conversation through space and time, and I’m all ears.
