Alberto Biasi made this work, "Ritratto Di G", and it seems like it's crafted from precisely arranged layers of paper or card. The whole thing is in cool grays, giving it an almost metallic vibe. It makes you wonder about the artist, what were they thinking as they built up these layers? How much planning, how much improvisation? There’s a sense of careful geometry here, but also something playful in the way the forms emerge, like a fish caught mid-swim. That central zig-zag, made of repeating lines, it's so hypnotic. It reminds me a bit of Op Art, but with a handmade feel. I can imagine Biasi in his studio, meticulously cutting and placing each piece, trying to balance precision with the organic flow of the forms. It's like he’s inviting us to see the world through a kaleidoscope, where simple shapes combine to create something complex and alive. That’s what painting can do, it is a way of seeing, thinking, and experiencing the world.
