Does the economy of line, and its capacity to denote various textures and spatial relationships intrigue you? Editor: Yes, absolutely! I find it incredible how much detail is conveyed with what appears to be so few lines. Curator: Precisely. This is achieved through the considered arrangement of form and line – essentially, through contrast. Where the artist uses short, broken strokes, they typically indicate the textures of natural elements, such as the rocks. Where we see more continuous lines, it defines the architecture. It is in these variations that the image gains visual depth. Notice how he employs different densities of marks. The way that form interacts is important.
