Tibetan Fairy Tales 1976

Oleksandr Aksinin created this mysterious piece, “Tibetan Fairy Tales,” during a time of artistic suppression in the Soviet Union. Aksinin and other Ukranian artists had to navigate the complexities of expressing themselves under a regime that valued socialist realism above all else. This image, with its deep blues and blacks, evokes a sense of the night, or perhaps the unknown depths of the subconscious.
