Kandinsky made "Improvisation 7" with oil paints, and looking at it, I can just imagine him building up the surface, one brushstroke at a time. There's this kind of struggle happening in the painting—like he's wrestling with something, trying to pin down a feeling or an idea. And you can see it in the colors he uses—the greens and oranges, how they push and pull against each other. It's like he's searching for a way to express something that's just out of reach. It's like he's saying, "Okay, painting, what are you gonna do for me today? What are you gonna show me?" I can really relate to that, as a painter. I feel like we're all just trying to figure things out, one brushstroke at a time, bouncing ideas off each other across time and space.
