Paperweight c. 19th century

"Paperweight" is a c. 19th-century paperweight produced by the Baccarat Glassworks. The clear glass sphere features a delicate floral motif, hand-painted with green leaves and three brown bell-shaped flowers. This type of paperweight, known as a "cameo paperweight," was popular during the 19th century and is a testament to the craftsmanship of Baccarat, a renowned French glassmaker. The paperweight is currently in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
