Gierigheid 1575

"Gierigheid" (Greed), an anonymous etching from 1575, depicts a woman seated in a classical setting. The woman holds a bag of money, representing the sin of greed. The artwork, now in the Rijksmuseum, is a small etching, measuring 219 mm in height and 160 mm in width. This piece is a visual representation of the seven deadly sins, and it is a valuable example of the engraving style prevalent in the 16th century.
