Editor: This is Joseph Goupy’s print, Tobit. The sweeping landscape feels almost stage-like, but the figures are so small, they seem secondary. What do you make of that choice? Curator: It’s a landscape that breathes drama, doesn’t it? Goupy invites us into Tobit’s world, where nature mirrors the spiritual upheaval. It's as if the land itself is a character in the biblical tale, a witness to faith and healing. Do you see how the light seems to emanate from behind the angel? Editor: Yes, the angel seems to be the focal point and source of light. I hadn't considered the landscape's role in echoing the narrative. Curator: Exactly! Goupy uses light and shadow to underscore the miraculous events unfolding. Perhaps he’s suggesting that even in the darkest landscapes, hope can emerge. It makes me think about the unexpected beauty that can bloom even after a storm. Editor: I see it now. It's more than just a backdrop; it's a reflection of Tobit's journey. Curator: Precisely! And hopefully a bit of our own.
