Editor: This photographic work by Martin Schweig shows four different views of what appears to be a twin wedding. The materiality of the photo itself, the grainy black and white, adds a lot of texture. What do you see when you look at this piece? Curator: I see a commentary on mass production and consumption. The four frames mimic the assembly line, turning a unique event into a commodity. The repetitive imagery suggests the wedding industry's influence on personal expression. Notice how the film itself becomes a material record of this manufactured ritual. Editor: That's interesting! I hadn't considered the mass production angle. Curator: Consider the labor involved: the photographer, the dressmakers, the florists, all contributing to this spectacle. It makes you think about the wedding as a product, doesn't it? Editor: It certainly does. I'll never look at wedding photos the same way again!
