Sašo Vrabič's triptych titled "Tetris" uses oil on canvas to examine themes of identity, memory, and the passage of time. Born in 1974, Vrabič’s artistic perspective is rooted in the cultural shifts of post-socialist Slovenia. The triptych juxtaposes personal and abstract elements. On one side, a monochrome painting depicts three boys engrossed in a handheld gaming console, reminiscent of early video game culture. On the other, a man in transit with added plus-shaped motifs. In the center, the colorful Tetris blocks create a bridge and also reflect the pixelated nature of early digital gaming. Vrabič's work balances personal narrative with broader cultural commentary. By combining figuration with geometric abstraction, he encourages us to reflect on how personal experiences intersect with collective memories, and how identity is shaped by both individual and societal forces.
