This 1756 porcelain cup, cover, and saucer, made by the Vincennes Manufactory, exemplifies the elegant style of 18th-century French ceramics. The delicate floral motifs painted in polychrome enamels are set against a background of turquoise blue, creating a striking visual contrast. The lavish use of gold accents adds to the luxurious feel of this object, designed for the elite and reflecting the refined tastes of the French court. The cup's dimensions are 4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm) in height and the saucer is 6 3/4 in. (17.1 cm) in diameter. It is currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
