Friedensreich Hundertwasser made "978 Rebellion of the Grid" with paint, and what grabs me first is how he’s pushing back against the grid, not just representing it. It’s like the painting itself is staging a little coup. The colours feel thick and juicy, almost edible, sitting right there on the surface. Look at the red outlines, kinda clunky and raw, pushing against the blues and oranges, creating this vibrating energy. You can almost feel Hundertwasser wrestling with the paint, trying to bend it to his will, but also letting it do its thing. Take that little house in the middle, surrounded by looping lines. It’s wonky and imperfect, but that's where the charm is, right? It reminds me a bit of Paul Klee, that playful exploration of form and colour. But Hundertwasser, he’s got this wild, untamed energy that’s all his own. It’s a reminder that art doesn’t have to be polished or perfect; it just has to be real.
