Editor: Here we have Jervis McEntee’s drawing, titled *The Corner*. It’s a graphite work, and what strikes me is the monumentality he achieves with such simple materials. What do you see in this piece? Curator: The rocks, rendered with such stark contrast, evoke permanence, but also fracture. Consider the enduring symbolism of stone – strength, resilience. Yet, what happens when that strength is visibly cracked, broken? It challenges our understanding of time, doesn't it? Editor: Yes, it’s like a ruin in progress. I hadn’t considered that. Curator: McEntee asks us to confront the narratives we project onto nature. What stories do we tell ourselves about stability versus decay? Editor: I’ll definitely think differently about this drawing now. Curator: Precisely, the symbols invite continual questioning.
