Carel Adolph Lion Cachet made this book design with ink on paper, but the date is unknown. I love how the ink bleeds into the paper, creating soft edges and a sense of depth. It feels like the design emerged organically, rather than being precisely planned. There's a real sensitivity to the materials here. Look at the bottom of the image, where the ink pools ever so slightly, revealing the fluidity of the medium. Those soft edges are so forgiving. They suggest a freedom and openness to chance, which is something I always try to embrace in my own work. It reminds me a bit of Hilma af Klint, who also explored abstract forms and spiritual themes in her art. Like Klint, Cachet seems to be reaching for something beyond the visible world, using simple shapes and colors to evoke a sense of mystery and wonder. Ultimately, this work invites us to slow down, to look closely, and to find our own meaning in its enigmatic forms.
