Paul Klee made "Hardy Plants," we don't know exactly when, but it feels like a piece where he’s really letting the process lead, with his gentle color choices. The texture is really interesting, it is not quite watercolor, not quite oil. The way the pinks and browns blend creates a soft, almost dreamlike quality. You can almost feel the earthiness and delicacy at the same time. Look at the feathery brown smudges around the base of the plants. They seem to anchor the lighter, more whimsical lines. Klee reminds me a bit of Miro. Both artists make paintings that feel like little visual poems, where the meaning is more about feeling than direct representation. I love that art can be a conversation across time, a way for artists to play with ideas and push each other forward without ever needing to say a word.
