Arsen Savadov made this photograph, *Angels*, sometime in the late 20th century, maybe even early 21st. It's one of those images that makes you think. What's going on here? I wonder if the artist was grappling with ideas about identity, spirituality, or the weight of history. There's a kind of performance happening, with different characters and props arranged just so, like a scene from a play or movie. What's with the angel on the beach, kneeling and holding a lamp? And the sailors holding up those big numbers? It's like a puzzle with missing pieces, leaving you to fill in the blanks with your own imagination. Artists are always in dialogue with each other. We riff off of each other, borrowing ideas, responding to what's come before. And photographs like this invite us to join that conversation, to engage with the work and bring our own perspectives to the table. What do you think?
