Charlotte Posenenske made Fold using industrial materials and processes, which she then arranged according to her own logic and aesthetic. It looks like it could be made of enameled metal. The colors are bold, primary – red, yellow, and blue – and they're laid out in crisp, clean stripes. Notice how Posenenske uses the physical structure of the material to create a kind of fold, or a break in the surface. This isn't just about color; it's about form and space. What I love about Posenenske's work is how she takes something as simple as a fold and turns it into a complex visual experience. It reminds me of the Minimalist sculptors of the 60’s such as Donald Judd, who were also interested in the relationship between object, space, and the viewer. Ultimately, Posenenske’s art invites us to rethink our assumptions about art, and to see the world in a new way.
