Digit III 2002

Editor: Here we have Gloria Ortiz-Hernandez’s “Digit III,” a small square artwork. I'm really drawn to the subtle gradations of the gray square; what do you see in this piece? And the quietness of it. Is this a commentary on mass production or perhaps a meditation on the value of slow, deliberate creation? I wonder about the artist’s social context during its creation.
