Victor Brauner made this painting, *Coup of Doubt*, in an unknown year, and I’m immediately struck by how he lays down each color, almost like he's building a puzzle. There’s a real tactile quality to Brauner's work. You can almost feel the roughness of the canvas, the way he layers the paint to create texture. I'm drawn to the figure’s hands, they’re kind of awkwardly placed, but they add a human touch to the otherwise stylized composition. And that muted palette – ochres, pinks, blues – it all feels so intimate, like peering into someone's personal world. Looking at *Coup of Doubt* I am reminded of other surrealist painters like Max Ernst, especially in his use of layering and collage techniques. But Brauner has his own strange kind of alchemy. It's a reminder that art is an ongoing conversation, where each artist adds their own unique voice to the mix, questioning the very nature of seeing and understanding.
