He represents a search for a deeper truth, resonating across cultures. Do you see how his upward gaze directs us towards the icon nestled within the darkness? Editor: Yes, it's a bit like a visual pathway. The eye is drawn upward. And is that supposed to be his staff at his feet? Curator: Exactly! The discarded staff symbolizes a renunciation of his journey and signifies his dependence on something greater than himself. Look, too, at the placement of the candles and the spring – they create a sanctuary, a place of both physical and spiritual sustenance. The candles are flickering flames and faith, of hope amidst the darkness, and that trickle of water seems to suggest spiritual cleansing, life, and rebirth.
