Finding Pegasus 2017

Daria Theodora created "Finding Pegasus" using watercolor, ink, and colored pencil. The composition weaves together elements from mythology, nature, and the cosmos in a dreamlike space. The layering of symbols generates a sense of depth. The fish, Pegasus, and constellations don't exist within a traditional perspective, but seem to float on the page, each with its own logic and scale. The flowing lines which define the hair of the central figure cascade into clouds, linking the earthly with the celestial, and challenging fixed meanings. The artist explores the relationship between different realms of existence through this free-flowing style. The formal qualities of fluidity and transformation remind us that art is dynamic.
