Karlo Zvirynsky made this collage, *Application*, from paper, and I'm really taken by the way it's put together. He's not afraid to let the shapes bump up against each other, creating this almost haphazard, but ultimately harmonious, composition. It really resonates with my own painting process, where I often embrace the unexpected. Looking closely, you can see how the texture of the paper adds another layer to the experience. The way he has torn the paper and then used these forms to create other shapes is brilliant! It's as if each piece has its own story, its own little imperfection, that contributes to the overall feel. Check out that bright red rectangle near the top, the one next to the jagged grey shape - it’s such a strong, confident statement. Zvirynsky was part of a generation of artists exploring abstraction, and you can see echoes of someone like Picasso in his playful approach to form, but he definitely has his own distinct voice. I love how this piece doesn't try to be anything other than what it is: a collection of colorful, carefully arranged shapes.
