Editor: This is Denman Waldo Ross's "Clock Tower, Grisons, Switzerland." It's a delicate pencil sketch. I’m struck by the subtle way the tower rises amidst the faint suggestion of mountains. What do you make of the artist's choice to leave so much undefined? Curator: It feels like a memory, doesn’t it? Like Ross is inviting us to fill in the blanks, to almost co-create the scene. He gives us the anchor, the clock tower, and then whispers, "Imagine." What feelings does that evoke for you? Editor: A sense of calm and quiet contemplation. It makes me want to visit. Curator: Exactly! The incomplete nature enhances the experience of a personal reflection, doesn't it? Like the best journeys, it's not just about the destination but the space for our own discoveries along the way. Editor: I like that interpretation. I'll never look at an unfinished sketch the same way again.
