Curatorial notes

Sabine Weiss captured *Le Facteur de Nuit*, or *The Night Postman*, in Paris using black and white photography. This image is like a memory clinging to a foggy window. Look at how the light seems to blur and soften everything, creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and distant. It’s as if Weiss is showing us not just what she saw, but how she felt in that moment. The texture of the photograph is really interesting, especially the way the light interacts with the mist. Notice the silhouette of the postman, almost like a ghost passing by. The whole image has this incredible sense of depth, drawing you in as if you’re there, sipping coffee and watching the night unfold. It makes me think of Brassai, who, like Weiss, also found poetry in the Parisian night. There's an openness that invites our own stories and experiences to fill in the blanks.
