Editor: So, this is "Sketch for Virgin and Child" by Sir William Reid Dick. It's a bronze sculpture, and there's something so vulnerable and tender about it. What do you see in this piece? Curator: It whispers to me of the universal mother, doesn't it? That profound connection, the weight and joy of nurturing life... I wonder if Dick felt that pull himself, a kind of yearning for an ideal? Perhaps it's less about religious iconography, and more about the human condition. What do you think? Editor: I hadn't considered that, but it does feel more personal now that you mention it. Curator: Right? It's a lovely sketch, even though it appears unfinished.
