"Senecas død" (Death of Seneca) is an engraving by Meno Haas, a Danish artist who lived from 1752 to 1833. This piece, created between 1752 and 1833, depicts the death of the Roman Stoic philosopher Seneca, who was ordered to commit suicide by the Roman Emperor Nero. The scene takes place in a Roman bathhouse, where Seneca is depicted seated in a bath with attendants, including his personal physician. The engraving is currently housed at the SMK - Statens Museum for Kunst, and is a powerful visual representation of Seneca's tragic demise. This artwork is part of the Neoclassical style, characterized by its emphasis on Roman and Greek themes and the use of linear perspective.
