Editor: Here we have "Sagittarius" by Konstantin Korobov, and it looks like a painting of some kind of classical warrior archer... but something feels off about it. It's this really striking mix of realism and fantasy. How do you interpret this work? Curator: Well, the way Korobov marries that historical feel – you see it in the helmet, that Grecian profile – with these unreal elements, it speaks to a kind of timeless struggle, doesn’t it? Like, this warrior is an archetype. Are we looking at a literal Sagittarius, perhaps, as in, the constellation, a centaur? Or is it something else? Editor: It's intriguing. I’m so used to seeing Sagittarius as half-man, half-horse. The all-human form feels like a deliberate choice, a break from the myth. Why do you think he decided to depict him this way? Curator: Perhaps it’s to internalize the battle. The struggle isn’t external, but human. The tension in his posture, the determined look… he’s aiming, sure, but at what? Himself, maybe? What's most striking for me is the contemporary reimagining of classical heroes – it's a dialogue, centuries apart. It invites us to see our own struggles reflected. Editor: I hadn't thought about it like that. It's like the artist is saying that the battles we face today are really not that different from the battles of the past. Very insightful! Curator: Exactly! And to view old myths through a new, contemporary lens... Makes you wonder what other stories need retelling.
