Konstantin Alexeevich Korovin made *At the Open Window* with oil paints and I’m so excited to talk about it. Look at those brushstrokes! They’re so free and juicy, like he was just flicking paint at the canvas. The colors are all mixed up, pinks and purples and greens, but they somehow make sense together. It’s like he’s not trying to paint what he sees, but how he feels. Up close, you can see the texture of the paint, the way it’s all bumpy and layered. It’s like a little world of its own. The window frame is all jagged and rough, but the flowers on the table are soft and delicate. This reminds me of Bonnard, who was also obsessed with capturing light and atmosphere. But Korovin is doing his own thing here, pushing the boundaries of what painting can be. It’s not just about representation, it’s about expression, about the pure joy of making marks on a surface.
