Editor: Here we have Friedrich Anton Wolff’s print, "Wild Boar and Dog." It’s a busy little scene. The texture almost vibrates off the page! What leaps out at you? Curator: Oh, the dance of light and shadow! It's a micro-drama, isn't it? The dog, alert, juxtaposed with the boar, perhaps at rest or... not. What does that say about our assumptions of nature's harmony versus its raw reality? I wonder if Wolff had a particularly prickly hunting trip in mind. Editor: That's interesting! I was so caught up in the detail, I missed the bigger picture of predator and prey. I'll definitely look at it differently now.
