-Majestic Radio- still bank c. 1932 - 1934

This still bank, shaped like a radio, was made by the Arcade Manufacturing Company. Looking at this miniature radio, I imagine the artist carefully crafting each detail, probably working from photographs or memory. It's got this smooth, dark surface with bronze highlights and a delicate, leafy pattern carved on the front. You can almost feel the weight of the metal in your hand. The design is so evocative of a time when the radio was the center of home entertainment. I imagine the artist must have had an appreciation for the craftsmanship of everyday objects.
