Curator: Willard Van Dyke's untitled photograph of a funnel presents us with an interesting composition. Editor: It's so stark. I immediately thought of industrial alienation, but in a strangely beautiful way. Curator: The funnel form, repeated in those almost rhythmic cylindrical shapes, echoes classical motifs of abundance. Think of cornucopias, but rendered in steel. Editor: Abundance, but sterile. It’s almost unsettling. The interplay of light and shadow, though—the crispness is really what holds my gaze. Curator: Indeed. It's a reminder that even in the most mundane objects, potent symbols reside. Editor: Well, Van Dyke has certainly funneled some deep thoughts into my morning!
