Yiannis Moralis made "10 colored drawings for the poems of George Seferis" with colored pencil and crayon. Look at how the blue crayon dances with the black, creating a push-and-pull effect with the figures. The material itself is so present here; I can almost feel the texture of the crayon on the page. The density of the blue suggests the heaviness of the poetic themes, maybe love, loss, or longing, while the scattered eyes add an element of surreal unease. Notice the figure on the left - the way it's drawn with a kind of deliberate awkwardness, like a child's drawing, but with this profound emotional depth. It reminds me a little of Picasso's more gestural work, but with a uniquely Greek sensibility. It's like Moralis is saying, "Here are some feelings, raw and unfiltered." A good reminder that art doesn’t always need to be polished to be powerful.
